Wow, how long has it been since I've last been here?

I haven't really been in a hiatus over the past years. Yes, the account known as Tevarro has been asleep and collecting dust all these years. But I have been drawing. Here and there. Or maybe it could be called hiatus if the hiatus involved posting over here. I have been working on some new stuff, but I haven't been much of a poster here.

But in lieu to the dawn of a new year is approaching, along with new work and a new art style developing, I have decided that I shall return to the world of dA once more. I'm not sure if I'll be actively posting, but rest assured that I will be posting here again.

And on Instagram.

And on Facebook.

And maybe Behance as well.

See what I did there? Social media plugins. Oh yeah.

I'm also not sure if anyone's still active here, which was partly the reason I have not been active here so long. So if you're still alive, do let me know. It'd be nice to hear the voices of old friends again. Ah, the good ol' times. Also, I'm planning to clean up my watch list, as I already have cleaned my overflowing pile of notes and notifications.

Anyway. Advanced Happy New Year to everyone!

Well, I’m back.

______________

I do apologize for my hiatus. It seems the cycles of hiati won’t end. But looking on the bright side, it’s a good thing that a hiati does not result to my permanent absence. After missing those coffee-fueled nights of frantically punching my pen onto the tablet in an attempt to create this thing called art, I decided to return to drawing.

Which also meant returning to world of dA. And returning to my works.

My old, old works.

Have you ever tried leaving your works for so long that you no longer see them as your beloved babies, but as aged fragments of your past? I think I have. And I feel an urge. An urge to purge.

Yes. I’m having thoughts of purging my gallery. After several works and reworks on Project Abigail, I decided to shelf the project and return to Project Hellion. After returning to Project Hellion, I realized that my characters seriously need a makeover.

An overhaul. To the point that the project has now been renamed to Project Odium. Hellion was just a working title, after all, so I guess it was never meant to be its final title. Such a change in the project will take some time to transition (I have yet to do the actual rename in my dA folder), but part of the transitioning process will be to snuff out my past works of Project Hellion. Purge them.

Well, I’m actually just going to put them in storage. Purge just sounds cooler, hehe. I’ll probably not store them all – but most of them, yes.

And why must I commit to the purge? Because they’re old. Outdated. I’ve always had this... cringe... every time I see my old works. And considering my style has been changed since working on Project Abigail, I think my new style would look out of place with my old one.

Just think of it as a matter of replacing my works. Out with the old, in with the new. Like this.

Project Odium - Character Overhaul by Tevarro

Recognize any of them? They may be my old characters, but they've been revised. Re-envisioned. Hope you like them. It's going to be like that for the next few works.

So yeah. Purging time.

Yes, after waiting for nearly a month to fly back to my hometown, I finally got myself Fallout 4.

It. was. so. BEAUTIFUL!

So good. So good. Better than what I've expected. I've been playing the game day in and day out since. Imagine, ever since I flew out of my hometown to work, I haven't touched a video game in nearly half a year - the longest I've been away from video games. And as a video game enthusiast, that is far too long for one to abstain from video games.

I guess it's justified why I went nuts when I tried it on the night I returned.

But since then, I have pushed my personal projects aside. I mentioned how I'm expecting Project: Abigail to come out this Christmas, but after traveling out of town for a family reunion/party for Christmas Eve and for a few more days, I feel that Project's going out longer than expected. But I guess it's all right - no need to rush on these things. Besides, it's Christmas vacation - if I can set work aside, then I can set my projects aside for the meantime. It's not like anyone's going to look for them, anyway.

Right?

Anyway, I've actually finished the Prologue of Project: Abigail. However, after reviewing it, I realized that it still needs improvement. So I'm going to improve it. I'll probably not mention when I'm going to release the Prologue this time so I won't get anyone's hopes up again. But it should come out next year.

In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy Christmas like how I like enjoying it - video games, bonding time with the family, and treat-outs to delectable dishes!

(Food will ruin me too. Oh well!)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Abigail Title Card by Tevarro

It's official. Project: Abigail is in full steam.

______________________

Almost a month ago, I mentioned that I've been working on an interactive short story. Not long after, I created a new folder and dubbed it as Project: Abigail, which is currently filled with some concept art for that interactive story.

And recently, I submitted the above as the official title card for the interactive story.

Yes, so I'm pleased to announce that the interactive short story, Project: Abigail, is now my main active project!

This mean I will be drawing full attention into working on this personal project.

Unfortunately, this means I will be shelfing other personal projects, such as Hellion and Conviction, for another time. Although I do have plans on creating a role-playing game with Hellion using Twine... still, Abigail will be my new baby to take care for the meantime.

It may seem odd that I'm unusually giddy about this project - I normally am not this excited enough to create a full-blown feature of my personal projects. Here are some tidbits about the Project: Abigail to get an idea why I am so hyped about it:

______

What is Abigail?

Abigail is the title of my upcoming interactive story. It tells the tale of a young girl named Abigail "Gale" Sable who must rescue her father from a dark creature who claims to be Abigail's true father.

Abigail will be written and styled in the horror genre, particularly survival horror.

What is unique about this project?

My personal projects (e.g. Hellion, Conviction, Ironclad) usually target a unique media. For instance, Hellion is targeted to be done in a comic/graphic novel, Conviction is targeted to be done in a fighting game, Ironclad is targeted to be done in a collector's card game. Abigail is targeted on interactive stories, where the reader gets to make decisions that alter the course of the story as they read it.

These interactive stories can be accessed online through a browser or can be downloaded for offline play. This means you can either play/read Abigail's story directly from a dedicated website or you can download a copy of the file for reading or playing at anytime.

Abigail is also unique in that it employs a style completely different from my usual style. From the title card alone, it can be noted that Abigail will use a black-and-white/grayscale reminiscent to ink art. The style is also more cartoonish, loosely inspired by Tim Burton's art style.

Lastly, Abigail will be my first attempt at writing horror. While horror/macabre has been a recent art style of mine, I have yet to actually write a horror story, especially targeted at survival horror (Hellion, Conviction, and Ironclad lean more into the action horror, which is a totally different kind of horror).

When will you release it?

Miraculously, the complete game (expected five chapters long) is planned for release sometime on July next year. For now, I am working on a Prologue/Prelude as a sort of teaser and introduction to the story behind Abigail. The Prologue/Prelude is targeted for release this Christmas Eve (December 24). Hold on, that's two weeks from now! Yay!

It will be released on a website dedicated to featuring Abigail. The website is expected for public launch by next week.

This is another reason I am so hyped about this personal project - it is the first project where it has a timetable. Other projects don't have one, which explains why they haven't been finished for so long. Abigail, however, has an envisioned end - an end that is doable and can be completed.

______

While it is possible to sell off Twine-based interactive stories, Abigail is expected to be released to the public for FREE. You would still be able to donate if you wish to support the game, though financial stuff will be worried about once I settle down on the rest of the parts of the game.

More updates of Abigail will be coming soon, perhaps within this week or the next.

Enjoy!
